Obtaining permission to use photos/images for local news articles.

Remember if you allow the photo/image to be used for anything other than personal use you are violating federal copyright laws. Personal use does not permit the photo/image to be published in any way. The publisher and you can be held liable for damages in civil court for violations of copyright laws.

Photos are back printed with clear copyright information and all digital images have copyright information embedded in the data.

So if you want to submit a photo/image for local news coverage the process is very simple. I am eager to cooperate in your desire to make the community aware you what is going on with you, your school or your organization.

1. E-mail me with the file name, date of the image and the publication name or web location. You can also send along the article which will accompany the photo/image.
Is it local news only? Will the publisher be paying for the image/photo?

2. I can also e-mail the image directly to the reporter or publisher direct to expedite the publishing of the article. Along with the image I can send the limited use agreement on your behalf.

3. As soon as I get the information I can send you a license to use for local news. You can submit a copy of the limited license agreement to the publisher along with the photo and you can hold on to the information for your own records. This protects my interest, the publisher and you.

4. In all occasions I request the photo credit accompany the article.

5. When the article is published I would like a link to the page or you can email a PDF, DOC or what ever the publisher makes available. A scan of a print article would be appreciated. This helps me keep a record of what photos/images are used and where they are published.

What style do you shoot?
I typically shoot photojournalist style.

Do you have a studio?
No, I don't. All of my equipment is very portable, I can bring the studio to you.

What type of equipment do you use.
All top quality Canon 1D series cameras, "L" lenses and flashes.


Can you do on site printing and what kind of prints are they? Ink jet?
Yes, It can be done. If it is a large event that photos have to be passed out during the event. But not for a normal photo shoot. No I do not use an ink jet printer. Photos will look and feel just like those from a lab. Contact me for more information.


Can you make photo slide shows with music that can be played on DVD players or computers?
Yes.
